Andrew's Apology and Explaination:

"I am truly sorry for any inconvenience experienced by those who already purchased tickets for the D.C. and Toronto shows. I sincerely hope you're able to attend at the new venues. Your tickets will still be valid.
A couple days ago I had a really intense personal experience and it made it very clear to me that I cannot and should not play on the main alter of a religious temple. Please understand, I have nothing against religion or temples of any kind. In fact, I love going to churches and hearing music there - but I can't play my music on that sort of stage after what happened the day before yesterday.
The best I can do to describe my experience, is to say that the world opened up to me, and I received it, as Spirit and Love and of course, a lot of fun and pleasure. It was a sexual feeling, and I just didn't feel right about bringing that onto a holy stage. My choice to move the venues is out of respect for this feeling, for myself, and my body, and for the alters themselves.
Fortunately, even though this was all last minute, we were able to keep the tour more or less intact, and will still play every city or region, as planned. The new venues offer us more traditional stages, without having to perform on the main alter. Once again, I'm really sorry for any trouble this causes, but it was something I felt very strongly about. Thank you always for your love and belief in the feelings I work to bring you." - Andrew W.K.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: Bloody-nose rocker turned motivational speaker and TV personality performs on solo piano with the Calder Quartet, a contemporary classical ensemble described as, "quite possibly the finest - and definitely the most adventurous - American chamber ensemble" (Bloomberg News). Stimulating all parts of your brain, A.W.K. and Calder Quartet have teamed up to perform a collaborative show, mixing reverence with irreverence, and offering their audience a chance for both rapt listening and raucous dancing. Challenging music lovers to explore their comfort zones, A.W.K. and Calder Quartet perform together towards a liberated and impassioned definition of art.

Their collaboration began at the acclaimed Wordless Music Series in New York City, where they received favorable coverage and critical response, including write ups in both the NY Times and LA Times. A.W.K. and Calder Quartet had original works commissioned by The Explorers Club, premiered at the Club's renowned annual dinner in New York City. Perhaps Metal Edge Magazine best described their recent work together when they wrote: "It was strange as hell and it pretty much ruled."

"The Calder Quartet's performance with Andrew W.K. for the Wordless Music series in November of 2008 was, without a doubt, one of the all-time highlights of the series' concerts to date. From the Calder's selections of music for string quartet and electronics by Philip Glass and Christine Southworth, to Andrew's improvisations on themes of Bach, to the final closing numbers from the Andrew W.K. songbook (with certain raucous audience members joining the band onstage), it was a night I will not soon forget and hope to be able to repeat soon." - Ronen Givony, Wordless Music Series Producer

Andrew will be performing piano works inspired by his new "55 CADILLAC" album.
